Case Studies
Niche Blinds
We delight in the challenge of unusual requests. No job is too big or too small; no window or door too oddly shaped. To give you a feel for the kind of jobs we tackle on a regular basis, we’ve put together a selection of case studies. But don’t worry if there’s nothing similar to your situation. We’re always ready for new challenges!
Case Study 1
Location –
City Centre Cambridge
The Challenge –
The Rotundrum Room couldn’t be used to its full extent on sunny days, as glare and bright sunlight flooded the room. The challenge was to fit curtains to hang from the suspension point, 4 metres up in the sky light.
The solution -
We surveyed the project, taking the client’s concerns into consideration. With a clear action plan decided upon, we erected scaffolding on protective covers to avoid damage to the flooring. Next, we hung fire retardant blackout curtains with a remote control point. The result? Total eradication of glare and easy operation at ground level.
The client’s comments -
The project was made more difficult by the fact that these windows are more than 4 metres from the ground and the fittings could only be attached to a stainless steel frame supporting the roof.
Niche Blinds provided us with an excellent and professional service taking in all our requirements and in a limited timescale. We are extremely pleased and have no hesitation in recommending them to any other organisation seeking a reliable supplier for this kind of furnishing.
Case Study 2
Location –
A14 Cambridge
The Challenge –
To fit fire retardant blinds that met strict EC Directives 89/391 and 90/270 and the UK Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations within a short time period before the client moved into their premises. The windows were 5 meters long with very little to drill into. Naturally, we wanted to avoid damage to the wood surrounding the windows.
The front entrance also needed a practical solution to keeping the office maximum privacy when closed at night.
The solution -
We surveyed the project, sourced the correct manufacturer of blinds and made to measure the Headrail system in one complete part. Allowing the client ease of use with the blinds System and using a functional split rail divider to maximise the product. By using the Perfect fit system on the front doors of the entrance, the client can now open or close at their will without damaging them or the door
